Surgical Retina
Surgical Retina involves disease of the retina in which the retinal film at the back of the eye detaches & separates from it’s base leading to a condition called Retinal Detachment.
There are 3 main types of Retinal Detachments.
Rhegmatogenous Retinal Detachment caused by breaks in the retinal film.
Tractional Retinal Detachment caused by tractions on the retinal surface secondary to diabetic or inflammatory retinopathies.
Exudative Retinal Detachment caused by fluid that separates the film from it's base.
The treatment involves advance retinal surgical repair with intraocular tamponade. Apart from these Macular pathologies such as Macular Holes, Epiretinal Membranes, Vitreo-Macular reactions are also treated surgically.
